Kalahandi ( Koshal Prahari) : Today, i.e., 22.07.2026, a short while ago, Sri Sitakanta Rana, Principal, Odisha Adarsh Vidyalaya (OAV), Th. Rampur, Dist.-Kalahandi, has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance *while demanding and taking a bribe of Rs.10,000/- from functionary of an SHG for facilitating release of pending bills for 3 months in the current year 2026-27 towards cleaning works*. For some time past, the functionary had been requesting accused Sri Rana for clearing the pending bills. But, Sri Rana demanded a bribe Rs.10,000/- to clear the pending bills. Unable to pay the demanded bribe, the functionary (Complainant) reported the matter to vigilance authorities alleging harassment by Sri Rana. On this, today, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed Sri Rana, while taking a bribe of Rs.10,000/- from the complt. *The entire tainted bribe money Rs.10,000/- has been recovered from the possession of accused Sri Rana and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations linked to Sri Rana from DA angle.
In this connection, Koraput Vigilance P.S. Case No. 17/2026, U/s-7PC (Amendment) Act, 2028 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against the accused Sri Sitakanta Rana.Detailed report follows.
