New Delhi (Koshal Prahari) : The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a major reshuffle at the Secretary level, appointing senior IAS officers to key positions across various Union ministries and departments. The move is part of a broader administrative overhaul aimed at strengthening governance and leadership in the Central Government. 

Among the key appointments, Katikithala Srinivas has been named Secretary, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, while Vineet Joshi has been appointed Secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj. Naresh Pal Gangwar will take over as Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education. 

The ACC has also appointed Piyush Goyal as Secretary General of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), T. K. Anil Kumar as Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy, and Sushil Kumar Lohani as Officer on Special Duty in the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying in the rank of Secretary. Lohani will subsequently assume charge as Secretary of the department. 

In another important decision, Archana Varma, Mission Director of the National Water Mission, has been granted Secretary rank through a temporary upgradation of her post. The appointments take effect as per the ACC's official order issued on July 23, 2026.
